News September 2021

Dear donors, ladies and gentlemen

Thanks to the good rainy season – successful reforestation in 2021

All three project regions (Oromia, Amhara, Sidama) reported a good to very good rainy season in August (started a little later in the Sidama area) with extensive rainfall. This is very important for the successful planting of the seedlings produced in the past 6-8 months and their growth.

The women’s advancement projects with the aim of improving the nutritional situation and strengthening the position of women are also showing success. Vegetable cultivation and the local water supply required for this are very important. This also includes beekeeping. Bees find enough nectar in our forests and more and more women are producing honey for their own consumption and for the market.

Unfortunately no peace yet. . .

All international calls to the warring parties to end the war and make peace have so far been unsuccessful. The northern region of Tigray is particularly hard hit. This region with 6 million inhabitants is still largely cut off from the environment. There are no internet or telephone connections and aid deliveries only insufficiently reach the region. We can only continue to hope that peace will soon return and that people will be able to find their way back to everyday life.
